Greetings! For those of you that haven’t been able to be part of the series we’re presently in, this post might seem a bit confusing. Not to worry – we’ll review a bit each week, since this part of the journey covers terrain not all of us have thought about before.
This week, in less time than it takes to enjoy a decent lunch, we are going to unpack the history of the arm-wrestling match between Plato and Aristotle, and see how that has deeply impacted the typical story line through which Western Christianity has read the biblical narrative. If that sounds a bit dull, well…you’ve obviously never seen a punch-up between two philosophers! If I do my homework well enough, we’ll get just to the beginnings of the Hebrew story line, in which all God has made (including us) is called “good” and even “very good” – a much more invitational place for humans to live than one called “perfect”. (I don’t know about you, but I find the idea of a good God working with me to make me “good” – which I desperately need! – quite hopeful…)
Coffee is on -see you on Sunday!
Tim

Hey! Is it OK that I go a bit off topic? I am trying to view your page on my Blackberry but it doesn’t display properly, any suggestions? Thanks! Yuonne

Hmm… I’m not sure why that would be! I’ll try to look into it ok? But I’m not sure how much luck I’ll have!

Hello Lisa. Do you mean the part about “good” compared to “perfect”?
